Nikola Jokic turned in a Christmas Day performance for the record books, scoring 56 points in a triple-double as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 142–138 in overtime.

Nikola Jokic finished with 56 points, 16 rebounds and 15 assists, becoming the first player in NBA history to reach at least 55 points, 15 rebounds and 15 assists in a single game. The three-time MVP also set a new overtime scoring record, pouring in 18 points in the extra period to surpass the previous mark of 17 set by Stephen Curry in 2016.

Minnesota forced overtime after erasing a 15-point deficit in the final five minutes of regulation. The Timberwolves sent the game beyond regulation on a game-tying three-pointer by Anthony Edwards, who led Minnesota with 44 points.

Edwards was ejected during overtime following an argument over foul calls. Denver then seized control behind Jokic’s scoring burst to close out the win at home.

The victory kept Denver in third place in the Western Conference standings, while Minnesota remained fifth.
